Koresh Invited Sheriff to Inspect Weapons in 1992
In February, 1992 Robert L. Cervenka complained to the sheriff's department that he had heard machinegun fire at Mount Carmel.
The New York Times reports, "According to Mr. [Paul] Fatta, the weapons the Davidians were firing at that time were legal AK-47s and AR-15s outfitted with a `hellfire trigger' that allowed for rapid firing without converting the rifles into fully automatic weapons.
`We had heard that one of the neighbors had been approached about using their property as a listening post, and we went to the local sheriff's department and asked them if the hellfire triggers were legal, just to make sure. We were told that they were legal.
